Sweet Ginger Sauce

To achieve the bright, gingery bite of the sweet ginger sauce served in Japanese steakhouses, we blended savory soy sauce, vibrant rice vinegar, and sugar with bracing, spicy fresh onion and ginger. The irresistible result was perfect for accompanying our Japanese Steakhouse Steak and Vegetables. We developed this speedy blender sauce for steak, but it shines on chicken, fish, and vegetables too.

Notes

Be sure to use unseasoned rice vinegar here.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 ¾-inch piece ginger - peeled and chopped

Instructions 

  • Process all ingredients in blender until smooth, about 15 seconds, scraping down sides of blender jar as needed.
